“I have been struggling with my weight for a long time.  I have had my children late in life, after many years of infertility struggles and while it has been amazing to fulfill my dream of becoming a mother it has also been a difficult path, both emotionally and physically.

I had gained a considerable amount of weight during my pregnancies and after I had my last child, 7 years ago, I have desperately tried to lose weight. I was constantly searching for the best diet and have managed to lose some weight on several occasions, but always through restriction that required lots of willpower.

“I had piled on weight in the last couple of years and my Jan 2024 resolution was to lose it. I had a go in Jan / Feb 24 and lost a few pounds but found it really tough going, not sustainable and I swiftly put the few pounds I had lost back on again.

I was looking for some guidance and support to facilitate my weight loss as my solo attempt had not produced the results I wanted. In March 2024 I was googling for diet support / nutritionist and found Sally's and I am so incredibly glad that I did. 

I started with Sally on 16th April and 13 weeks later I had lost 1st 13 lbs, was back in a healthy BMI and have transformed my body shape, losing 16 cms from my waist and 13 cms from my hips!

“Having battled with maintaining a steady ‘healthy’ weight since the age of 17, trying everything from weight watchers to cabbage soup, slimfast to whole 30. Cycling through an annual pattern of losing weight in the run up to Christmas parties. “I started Sally's 12 week programme in September having been battling with myself over my eating habits, particularly through the summer, although I have struggled with my weight and yo-yo dieting all my life. 

When I came to Sally I felt in a really bad place and totally out of control with my thinking and my habits. I was using food all the time to solve emotional issues, and felt hungry all the time. Sally was so kind and compassionate from the first time I spoke to her, and approached my situation in a totally non-judgemental way. I felt like her personal experience of also being a busy mum with young children meant that she really understood my perspective. 

Sally was very clear in her approach and helped me to build a food and drinks protocol, which included foods I enjoyed eating. There were no foods to be considered off limits. She helped me with making a plan each day of what I would eat, and this made me very mindful to only eat/drink what was on my plan. 

I soon realised that I was enjoying food so much more, and eating lots of wonderful things, and mealtimes became a joy. Hand in hand with this is the time Sally spends on helping you change habits and mindset,and building confidence. Knowing that I want to do this for me, rather than for anyone else, is key, and Sally helps to understand this.

“I decided to work with Sally because I was completely overwhelmed by all the ‘shoulds’ surrounding health and wellness as a peri-menopausal 44-year-old with three children and a busy job. Before working with Sally, I was gaining weight each week despite eating in a way that had previously ‘worked’ for me. After a blood test revealed that my kidneys were under strain, I quit alcohol but realised I needed help to address my eating habits.

During the three months I worked with Sally, I lost 1.5 stone. One of the most surprising discoveries was that I didn’t actually know what being ‘hungry’ really felt like.
